TweetDeck for Chrome Updated, Complements New Twitter

TweetDeck New LogoMany people are talking about the new interface for Twitter which you can find here. While everyone is talking about Twitter, I got the new interface for TweetDeck for Chrome and it looks very similar to the latest TweetDeck desktop version. Previously, TweetDeck desktop is available in Adobe Air version only but now Twitter released an HTML5 version that is virtually identical to the latest Chrome version.

You can see below the new looks of TweetDeck columns. I’m not sure if there is still a combined column just like the old TweetDeck for Chrome. Apparently the combined columns are still working but looking at the add column feature, there seems to be no combined columns for mentions and messages anymore.

Notice that you can browse the columns at the top now similar to the desktop version. You can also click the rightmost area to go the the hidden columns.

With the TweetDeck for Chrome update, the yellow TweetDeck icon is now blue. The TweetDeck bird looks identical to the Twitter bird now and it makes sense because TweetDeck is part of Twitter now.

The individual column setting, notification sounds and popups stayed the same but you can see that the color of the links changed to light blue.

The text area for composing a tweet looks similar, and again just a new color theme

Here is the add column options. Looks similar but I can’t find the “combined” columns for mentions and messages even if the existing columns in my TweetDeck for Chrome seems to function the same. If you have combined columns, don’t dare to remove it because you may never get it back.

Here is a an example search. Looks the same.

Then for the application settings…

If you don’t have TweetDeck for Chrome yet, you can get it from Chrome Web Store. If you don’t use Chrome you can still get the same thing when you install TweetDeck for PC or Mac which can be downloaded here.

Let me know if I missed anything.

What do you think of the new TweetDeck for Chrome?

Não estou conseguindo usar o novo TweetDeck. Piorou. Antes quando eu passava dos 140 caracteres automaticamente aceitava o ly,  o que eu digitava. Agora o encurtamento não funciona. Como resolver? Sem o TweetDeck o Twiiter não é completo.

If my translation is correct, your problem is the automatic link shortening. You won’t get to preview anymore but you can compose your message as if the link was shorten. The character count will not count the length of the original link but the length of the shortened link… it’s just distracting that you don’t get the preview of the shortened link just like how it used to be. I hope Twitter will fix this.

    Bom dia,
                 Aloisio

Hey man, did you find the “Combine columns” at the new Tweetdeck?

Hi @0ce67ee0c177c92f77933234ccf7db95:disqus… No, I believe there is no combined columns. I blogged about the missing features of TweetDeck for Chrome (also similar to the HTML5 desktop version) http://www.vexite.com/2011/tweetdeck-for-chrome-7-features-that-disappeared/ –  and this is one reason why I am fairly disappointed with the “update”.
