Globe Network Modernization: What it Means to Philippine Customers

Marck V. Wednesday - Dec 7, 2011 1

Globe’s network modernization has been in the news since last month and now Globe even shout out to their customers that they are very serious about the on-going network upgrades.

I notice that I am getting more HSPA+ coverage in our area lately even though the signal is a little inconsistent. It is still better because I don’t get HSPA+ signal before.

According to the service announcement that I received, Globe’s network modernization program will provide its customers connectivity superior  than any other network in the Philippines. That sound’s really ambitious so don’t expect it to happen overnight.

Business Mirror reported about 80 percent of the $790 million investment will be spent in the first two years which is $530 million next year, and another $110 million in 2013.

Below, you’ll find an infographic from Globe about their network modernization:

I am really excited with these cool new stuffs that Globe wants to offer. I really like the idea of having strong coverage where ever you are. I am still a Globe subscriber in landline and DSL, I am not sure if this would affect me at all, but I am still excited. These improvements, once implemented, might make me pull my Smart SIM card off my phone and replace it with Globe’s.

But then again, let’s hope that they won’t try to get their investments back overnight by charging that much. We don’t want a Philippine version of Netflix.  hehe..
