VMware Solaris 10

I’m installing a copy of Solaris 10 in VMware right now… I hope I get this OS working.

Solaris 10 JDS 3.0 under VMware

This time around, I was able to use higher screen resolution. I could use 1024 x 768 resolution but I don’t want to cover the entire screen with VMware, so I set it to 800 x 600.

To utilize the graphical UI of Solaris in VMware you must run kdmconfig and choose Xorg (recommended). You need to reboot to see the effect. Later you would see the GUI under 640 x 480 resolution. Just run /usr/X11/bin/xorgconfig in the console to configure the Xorg settings. Be sure to read the instruction as it it quite straightforward.
